After the era of robot waiters and robot chefs, it’s time to robot tasters. Are we kidding? No, it’s all true. A group of robotic engineers fromUniversity of Cambridge have created a machine that is capable of tasting food through artificial taste buds designed in the image and likeness of humans. in a video Published in Youtube from the University of Cambridge, the robot is shown trying out some eggs with tomato, replicating the human chewing process. The purpose is to taste the food during preparation to understand flavors and degree of saltiness.
Grzegorz Sochackione of the researchers working on the robot explained the reasoning behind this invention. “If robots are going to be used for some aspects of food preparation, it’s important that they can ‘taste’ what they’re cooking”. The robot chefwho was initially trained to make and taste tortillas, is learning to determine if a leaf it is seasoned correctly or not, savoring one bite after another. Not only, therefore, but kitchen room even like a real chef in person. The researchers hope to be able to adapt the robot who test and prepare there flavors and the individual preferences of the people for whom they work in the kitchen.
